Piedmont Players Presents: "Mary Poppins Jr."

The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Check out Piedmont Players' presentation of "Mary Poppins Jr."!

 

Waterworks' Fall Art Exhibitions

Waterworks' Fall Art Exhibitions will feature works from three incredible artists. These exhibitions will include Ashleigh Coleman - Hold Nothing Back, photographs; Jane Cheek - Where We Built Our Dreams: Explorations of Belonging and Happy Spaces, mixed media installations; and Dori Settles - Shoes as Storytellers, glass.

 

Adult Hand & Wheel Pottery Classes at Waterworks

October 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 and November 7 & 11

Hand and Wheel is for beginning and experienced clay enthusiasts. Students can learn the fundamentals of hand building or throwing on the potter’s wheel during this session. Experienced potters can focus on enhancing their skills. Surface decoration includes slip and glazing techniques.

 

Buskers' Bash in Downtown Salisbury

Buskers’ Bash is an annual event that celebrates the best local talent from solo musicians to fire-tossing jugglers and every other type of street performer in between. Downtown shops stay open later and offer various discounts! The eclectic crew of sidewalk artists, typically amounting to over 30 acts, perform in front of participating downtown businesses.

Every 1st Saturday, the Salisbury-Rowan Farmers' Market holds a craft vendor market at the Railwalk Pavilion in Downtown Salisbury. Join them for this display of local craft vendors and artists from 8 A.M. - noon.

 

Piedmont Players Presents: "RENT"

Set in the East Village of New York City, Rent is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Jonathan Larson's Rent follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.

Jr. Artpops & Family Fun Lanterns and Luminaries Class at Waterworks

October 14, 2023

Young creatives will join artist Shirl Hull to design paper lanterns in celebration of Winter Solstice. During the workshop Shirl will share new techniques of illumination for paper lanterns. After completion, participants are invited to bring their lanterns to Waterworks Second Annual Lantern walk on December 9. Waterworks will provide the materials, instructions, and inspiration–just bring your imagination. 

 

Toddler & Youth Woodland Animal Habitats Workshop at Waterworks

Inspired by animals in storybooks and using their imaginations, Ms. Debbie will lead children as they create animals of the forest. Young artists will draw, paint, cut and glue the whimsical, colorful creatures they sometimes see scurrying through their own backyards.
