Lighting of the Fall Fires in Historic Gold Hill

Gold Hill is located in eastern Rowan County and is comprised on a 70-acre park which is the site of the Barnhardt and Randolph Gold Mines that were known in the 19th century as the richest gold mining property east of the Mississippi. The old mining roads that run through the park serve as hiking and biking trails. The Village at Gold Hill sits by the park with shops that take you back in time.

The Historic Village of Gold Hill loves to celebrate the start of the holiday season in a big way. Lighting of the Fall Fires began in 2000 to celebrate the restoration of the Historic Village of Gold Hill. Each part of the quaint village is decorated with white lights, greenery and festive décor for the upcoming holiday season.

During the event guests will have the opportunity to visit the village shops, enjoy refreshments and live music throughout the evening. Music includes the Windsong Recorder Ensemble with seasonal music in the Church Sanctuary, traditional bluegrass ensembles at Montgomery General Store and more. Bonfires set the ambiance for a beautiful evening welcoming the holiday season in Rowan County.
