Gold Hill Founder's Day
Each September, Historic Gold Hill opens the Gold Hill Mines Historic Park for a festival of arts and music celebrating the history and culture of the once famous gold mining boom town. Artisans, 65+ vendors and food trucks will offer their talents and create fun for the whole family. History hayrides, self-guided tours, arts & crafts, music, food and more!
The day kicks off with the Founder's Day Parade, and continues with heritage exhibit demonstrations of hit & miss engines, gold panning, hand wood carving and more. You’ll find music from the North Carolina Bluegrass association throughout the day at the amphitheater. The food circle has 10+ food vendors serving barbeque, hotdogs, hamburgers and other tasty treats.
Take a quick break from the festivities to visit the restored gold mining village located adjacent to the park. You’ll have the opportunity to explore original shops with their own unique offerings. Be sure to pop in the E.H. Montgomery General Store to pick up a long-neck bottle of soda or hand dipped ice cream, along with your Gold Hill map and brochures.
Gold Hill Founder's Day is hosted by the Historic Gold Hill and Mines Foundation, Inc. All proceeds benefit the restoration and maintenance of Gold Hill Mines Historic Park.
