And The Story Begins - A Plein Air Art Exhibit

Our newest local art exhibit features original works by the Plein Air Artists, with pieces painted at the recent OctoberTour of historic sites in Salisbury and more. Plein Air artists meet each week to paint "en plein air" (French for "in the open air"). Join The Heart of Salisbury for the Opening Reception for 'And the Story Begins' Saturday, December, 10 from 5:30 P.M. - 7:30 P.M..

Featuring classic Christmas songs with some new, exciting arrangements, we guarantee this trip down memory lane with Scrooge will get you and your family into the holiday spirit. Come check out this fantastic production by Salisbury's Piedmont Players Thursdays through Sundays, December 1 - 18.

 

Glass Ornaments Class at Waterworks

December 3, 2022

In this festive family workshop children and parents or guardians will focus on crafting unique glass ornaments! Starting with basic safety and glass knowledge, students will learn how to cut glass and arrange the glass pieces, along with other simple techniques to design their ornaments. Participants may design ornaments for their Christmas Tree or as decoration for other special winter family traditions.

 

Lee St. Theatre Presents: "Godspell"

December 2 - 17, 2022

Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden); and it took the world by storm. The musical follows a small group of people that help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comedic timing. With an eclectic blend of songs ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, and the story of Jesus' life danced across the stage, Godspell is a sensation that continues to touch audiences.

 

The Salisbury Symphony Presents: "Serenade Brass"

December 9, 2022

Join the brass players of the Salisbury Symphony for an evening of holiday music in Catawba’s iconic Omwake Dearborn Chapel. For this performance, trumpets will be played by Luke Boudreault & Mark Hibshman, the French horn by Mary Boudreault, tenor trombone by Seth Frack and bass trombone by Sean Devlin.

 

Winter Solstice Lanterns Class at Waterworks

Winter Solstice has been celebrated all over the world for thousands of years. It occurs on the shortest day and longest night. Often the first day of winter, it is a time to celebrate and invite the light back into our lives. We reflect and ask that light and warmth grow our hearts. Families are invited to design winter solstice lanterns and participate in a festive parade at the Bell Green Park, Wednesday, December 21.

Adults (21+) Only. Comments from instructor, Cindy Morgan: "I've found that all kinds of mementos hide in the junk drawer or in jars and boxes in closets and attics. Rocks, shells, or jewelry will transform a picture frame, a lamp, a sconce, or your support of choice. We will use basic assemblage principles to create a unique piece of sentimental art that takes you down memory lane. And, creates a fun buzz in your home or as a gift that keeps giving! Enjoy a glass of wine and nibbles while creating."

 

"The Nutcracker Ballet" Presented by The Salisbury Symphony & Piedmont School of Music & Dance

December 17 & 18, 2022

The Salisbury Symphony and Piedmont School of Music and Dance are once again collaborating to bring the magic of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker back to Salisbury. This is the 20th production of The Nutcracker presented by the Piedmont School of Music and Dance and the 15th done together with the Salisbury Symphony. Join us in Salisbury, N.C. for this traditional holiday performance.
