China Grove Farmers Day - it’s a Rowan County original celebration that’s worth mentioning.

Farmers Day was started in 1982 as a way to honor the local farmers by inviting them to bring their produce to sell at a community wide farmers market. Since then, it has grown to become one of the best street festivals in the state, with an estimated 15,000 visitors.

You’ll find more than 200 colorful vendor booths lining Main Street with arts and craft items, produce and honey, agricultural displays, information booths, antique tractors, food, homemade ice cream and so much more. The day is filled with excitement such as the Little Mr. and Miss Farmers Day Contest, live music, gem mining, zucchini car race, face painting and even a magician! Street vendors pack up around 4 p.m. and make room for the nighttime street dance at 7 p.m. Bring your chair and enjoy the live music and dancing, or get out there and dance yourself!

The event is hosted by the Town of China Grove the third Saturday in July each year in China Grove. The day begins with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. and ends with the last firework at 9:30 p.m.
