Dragon Boat Festival
The Rowan Chamber Dragon Boat Festival is one of Rowan County’s most exhilarating and unique annual events, bringing the community together for a high-energy day of racing, teamwork, and celebration on the waters of High Rock Lake - North Carolina’s second-largest lake.
Organized by the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce, this family-friendly summer tradition invites businesses, community groups, churches, and adventurous individuals to dive into the ancient sport of dragon boat racing. With teams of 20 paddlers, a drummer setting the pace, and a steersperson guiding the boat, this event is as much about camaraderie as it is competition - no experience required!
Held at the Rowan Shrine Club in Salisbury, the festival is the largest annual spectator event on High Rock Lake and features a full day of entertainment. In addition to the thrilling races, visitors can enjoy food trucks, local vendors, music, and kid-friendly activities throughout the day.
Whether you’re on a team, cheering from the shore, or watching from your boat in the lake’s main channel, the Dragon Boat Festival offers a one-of-a-kind summer experience filled with fun, community spirit, and unforgettable moments.
