In the heart of downtown Salisbury, a new story is taking shape. One that quite literally connects the past, present, and future of Rowan County. Rowan County Tourism is bringing this vision to life through the Railwalk Development Project, a multi-block pedestrian connection linking the Rowan County Farmers Market Pavilion to the Historic Salisbury Amtrak Station. Designed to build on the county’s unique character and recent investments, this pathway weaves together agriculture, transportation, and downtown energy into one seamless experience that invites visitors to explore, stay longer, and discover more along the way. Since breaking ground in February 2025, the project has moved forward with careful coordination to ensure downtown remains vibrant and accessible, with completion anticipated in Spring 2026—just in time to welcome the next chapter of visitors and residents alike.
