Nothing completes a trip to Rowan County better than a local dining experience. We've set out to highlight a few of the many local restaurants that make our destination an original place to visit and eat. We’ve created a series of some of our many favorite original restaurants in Rowan County. Up next, La Cava Restaurant.
On the corner of South Church Street in Historic Downtown Salisbury you’ll find a magnificent church that was built in 1897. Inside of this church you’ll find a fine dining experience that’ll leave you in awe.
Gianni and Mona Moscardini came to North Carolina for the quarry business, while here they decided to open a restaurant. The Moscardinis opened La Cava in 1994 to showcase their heritage through a fine dining experience. They named the restaurant La Cava, which means “the quarry” in Italian.
The stained glass windows and gorgeous details aren’t the only thing you’ll be amazed by during your visit. The experience is filled with exquisite authentic Italian food and vintage wines from the world’s finest vineyards. Most of the original church structure survives and provides La Cava with an impressive old world atmosphere. The true secret to their restaurant is their fresh, scratch made Italian dishes made from long standing family recipes. The food is beautiful and delicious. We’ve been told you must try the table side Caesar salad, and we’re remembering that for our next visit.
La Cava is open Monday through Thursday 5:30 – 9 p.m. and Friday through Saturday 5:30 – 10 p.m. They provide indoor and outdoor seating in their small courtyard (weather permitting), as well as take out options.
You can find La Cava on Facebook at La Cava Restaurant and Instagram @LaCavaRestaurant.
