The 21st annual Lighting of the Fall Fires event will be held on November 20, 2021 from 5:30 - 9 p.m. Advanced tickets are required, and can be purchased from the Gold Hill Historic Preservation Society.

Gold Hill is located in eastern Rowan County and is comprised on a 70-acre park which is the site of the Barnhardt and Randolph Gold Mines that were known in the 19th century as the richest gold mining property east of the Mississippi. The park is now one of the most sought after wedding venues in the region. The old mining roads that run through the park serve as hiking and biking trails. The Village at Gold Hill sits by the park with shops that take you back in time.

The Historic Village of Gold Hill loves to celebrate the start of the holiday season in a big way. Their Lighting of the Fall Fires began in 2000 to celebrate the restoration of the Historic Village of Gold Hill. Each part of the quaint village is decorated for the upcoming holiday season. You'll find white lights, greenery and festive decor adorning the village. During the event guests will have the opportunity to visit the village shops, enjoy refreshments and live music throughout the evening. Bonfires set the ambiance for a beautiful evening welcoming the holiday season in Rowan County.

Visitors of all ages will enjoy taking in the scenes of Historic Gold Hill. Upon arrival, visitors will present their ticket at the Russell-Rufty Shelter in Gold Hill Mines Historic Park in exchange for your bag of gold nuggets. Gold nuggets allow you entry to the village shops where you will receive holiday treats and unique shopping.
