While we’re staying home and following government orders, we’re still dreaming of days in Rowan County. Our attractions have been hard at work preparing virtual experiences for our visitors so that they don’t have to miss a beat of Rowan County fun. Pretty soon, we'll be back to enjoying our small town environments, days on Patterson Farm, taking adventures in our parks, and experiencing the holidays at the North Carolina Transportation Museum. In the meantime, enjoy these Rowan County virtual experiences from your home and stay well.

North Carolina Transportation Museum: The North Carolina Transportation Museum doesn’t want you to miss out on experiencing the museum that moves you this spring! Their YouTube channel is filled with videos, including tours of the property, history and tours of past and current exhibits. Plus, keep up with their Facebook page for their new videos and story time videos! These virtual experiences are suitable and enjoyable for all ages.

Lee Street theatre: Art is one of the primary backbones of life in Rowan County, and Lee Street theatre won’t let COVID-19 close their curtains. They have prepared an entire online season for you to watch from your home. Concerts, Improv shows, productions and more, can all be watched live from their Facebook page. Check out their line up and plan your evening around Lee Street theatre’s next show!

Piedmont Players: Like Lee Street theatre, Piedmont Players won’t let a pandemic keep them from the stage. They are conducting auditions for their first online production. Visit their Facebook page to see the video auditions for roles for The Day the Crayons Quit. If that’s not enough, they’re also planning a 10-minute play festival on the subject of social distancing. We’re all experts now, so if you’ve ever thought about writing a play, now is a great time to do it! Check out their Facebook page for rules and guidelines.

Rowan Museum: Rowan Museum and Horizons Unlimited have teamed up to bring you Ramblin’ Around Rowan, a short video series focused on the history of Rowan County. They debunk myths, show you historic properties throughout the county, Follow them through Downtown Salisbury, through the trails near the Yadkin and more as they explore the history right here in our county.

Bonus: If you’re hanging by a thread waiting for Rowan County strawberries, we can understand. Check out Patterson Farm’s Facebook page to keep up with their strawberry updates – when they’ll be perfectly ripe, where to get them and more!
