Our Town presented by Lee Street theatre (Fridays & Saturdays through February 5): Described by Edward Albee as "the greatest American play ever written," Our Town presents the small town of Grover’s Corners in three acts: "Daily Life," "Love and Marriage" and "Death and Eternity." Narrated by a stage manager and performed with minimal props and sets, the play depicts the simple daily lives of the Webb and Gibbs families as their children fall in love, marry, and eventually – in one of the most famous scenes in American theatre – die.

Waterworks Visual Arts Center Spring Exhibition - New Beginnings (through February 28): Five North Carolina women artists uniquely connect through their chosen medium of cut paper, sculpture, photography, hand-embroidered and mixed media textiles. Meet the artists event will be held February 11 at 5:30 p.m.

Art R&R at Waterworks Visual Arts Center (February 10): Reach that peaceful, artful feeling in an evening of uninterrupted creative expression in the galleries. Choose from drawing, coloring, collaging, creative writing and more. No pressure, just fun, stress-relieving relaxation through art.

The Vagina Monologues presented by Lee Street theatre (February 10-12): An Obie Award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone, THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and a feminist happy to have found a man who “liked to look at it."

Wine & Dine on the Rails at the N.C. Transportation Museum (February 12 & 13): Join the N.C. Transportation Museum for an evening of elegance and romance during the annual Wine & Dine on the Rails event on February 12 and 13. This special event features a cocktail hour inside the museum followed by a leisurely train ride around our 60-acre historic site, and a three-course meal served aboard the train.

Historic Salisbury Foundation Preservation Awards (February 24): Join Historic Salisbury Foundation as they honor local individuals and businesses who put preservation first in their remodeling/restoration projects in Rowan County.

Ragtime the Musical presented by Piedmont Players theatre (February 25-27, March 4-6 & March 11-13): Set in the volatile melting pot of turn-of-the-century New York, this sweeping musical portrait of early-twentieth-century America tells the story of three families in the pursuit of the American Dream. Together, they confront history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair... and what it means to live in America.
